What books do u suggest I buy to read next?

I'm 22 and I've just started reading for pleasure, as I have a horribly boring job as a front desk clerk at a hotel....books that I have read so far and enjoy include:



1. Pure by Rebecca Ray

2. White Oleander

3. How to kill a Rockstar

4. The Brigette Jones books

5. It seemed important at the Time: Romatic Memoir of Gloria Vanderbilt



I've recently purchase by havent read yet



1. Girl, Interrupted (seen movie, not read book yet. Has anyone else read this book?)

2. Skipped Parts by Tim Sandlin (anyone read this yet, I have not. Is it good?)

3. Once upon a Time by Gloria Vanderbilt (havent read yet, has anyone else read yet?)



now what should I buy to read that are simliar to these books or better?

Something different...

You might be interested in Laurell Hamilton's series with Anita Blake as the main character. She raises the dead for a living, is a licensed vampire executioner, gets involved with an Alpha werewolf and the Master of the City and is the expert for the St. Louis Paranormal Squad (can't remember the exact name.) I really enjoyed the first group in the series (7-9 books). Later, the plots disappear and it's very sexual in nature - kind of crazy when Anita won't get involved initially with her boyfriend because she's been hurt in the past.



Similar are the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. These are immortals without souls who protect humans from Daimons (vampires) and other supernatural creatures. I've read three and enjoyed them quite a bit. They contain romance as well, but it's not been the main or only thing going on - so far, they've been love stories.



These might be a bit different from what you're reading, but the genre is kind of fun.



A few others that went through my head when I read your list were Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs (did not see the movie, but the book is good), My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult (one daughter sues for medical emancipation, though her kidney is needed to save her sister's life), The Lovely Bones (told by a 14 year old murder victim - tough subject, good book) and Lucky (memoir by same author, Alice Sebold, about her rape the last day of her freshman year of college.)



I just started The Memory Keeper's Daughter (Kim Edwards) - very good as well.



Lots of raves for Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. Young girl moves from Arizona to a small northern town, becomes popular and falls in love with a young looking vampire. He returns the feelings, but sadly he also lusts for her blood - it has a certain scent that he desires, though his family feeds off animals. I haven't read the second in the series, New Moon. First one wasn't bad.
Reply:I enjoy John Grisham books. ex; Rainman, The Clint. All his books are very well written and I don't want-to put them down.



Also like John Jakes, The North and South, the Rebels, etc.

Reply:girl interrupted is a good read, it took me like five hours i think to read it, i live down the street from the hospital it mentions so I thought it was really funny to be like I know that street shes talking about

The books version of Girl, Interrupted is 10 times better than the movie.
