Girl, Interrupted?

I just saw the movie for Girl, Interrupted recently and really wanted to read the book, but there's one thing I'd like to know before buying it: How graphic are some of the scenes? My biggest issue is Daisy's suicide and self-mutilation. I can sort of watch it on the screen because I can always look away, but in written form, I really have trouble getting through passages that have a lot of detail.

I could handle the deaths in White Oleander just fine, if that gives any perspective; I just have trouble with really bloody situations.

And please don't respond saying the book was horrible and I shouldn't bother reading it, because that's not answering my question. :)

Girl, Interrupted?
dont worry daisy's suicide in the book isnt graphic at all it just says that she d killed herself. defintly read the book its great.
Reply:There were many changes to the movie from the book. Daisy's death is just mentioned w/out being too graphic about how it all happened. The book is good, but I think the movie was a bit better. Still worth reading though. If there is something too disturbing for you, just skim through it.
Reply:I read the book quite a long time ago, but I am pretty sure it was not graphic in violence (or self violence). Read it you will do fine.
Reply:If you can handle the movie then the book should be no problem for you. It's very well-written and engrossing, and that should make up for any discomfort you have while reading it. If it gets too graphic for you, you can just skip a paragraph or two. I sometimes do that, then I end up going back and reading what I've skipped anyway!
Reply:The book is disturbing because of the subject but not graphic, i.e., disturbing-sad not disturbing-gross.
Reply:dont worry bout it get past it u can do it i hate scary novels and movies too.
